Baltic Amber Resin (Succinite) — 28g

Pinus succinifera | Sold as curio only

Authentic Baltic Amber Resin, known historically as Succinite, is fossilized resin from the extinct Pinus succinifera pine, sourced from Scandinavia and the Baltic region. This is genuine amber resin, distinct from Indian Amber, which is a synthetic perfume compound, and from Damar gum (Vateria indica), which is sometimes sold as a substitute. What you are receiving here is the real thing.

Historical Background

Baltic Amber is one of the oldest traded commodities in the ancient world. The ancient Greeks called it "electron," the root of our modern word electricity, a reference to the electrostatic charge it develops when rubbed. It was prized by Egyptian and Greek civilizations and connected in classical tradition to the sun deities Helios and Apollo. In Lithuanian mythology it is central to the legend of Jurate and Kastytis, associated with the tears of a sea goddess. In the Eastern world it is known as Kahruubaa, and carries its own distinct history of sacred and medicinal use.

A Note on Aroma

Baltic Amber has little to no natural scent at room temperature, and when burned does not produce a particularly pleasant fragrance. This resin is sold for its ritual, historical, and curio value, not as a room incense.

You will receive 28 grams of authentic Baltic Amber Resin.

Sold as a botanical and mineral curio only. All historical and traditional uses described are folkloric in nature. No medicinal or magical claims are made or implied.
