Often referred to as benzoin almonds, this wonderful and somewhat rare resin has a very powerful vanilla scent. If overheated, the resin often has a displeasing aroma so its usually used as a minor ingredient in incense and perfumes. It blends very well with other herbs to round out aromas and provide a somewhat more exotic finished scent. Some call this resin storax however I feel these are very different plants as is Benzoin Sumatra which is grey and flaky.
