This is the authentic Anastatica hierochuntica, the true Rose of Jericho native to the deserts of the Middle East and North Africa. This is NOT the commonly available Selaginella lepidophylla (false Rose of Jericho) found in most metaphysical shops in the United States.

The true Rose of Jericho (Anastatica hierochuntica) does NOT open or change when placed in water. This is a dried botanical specimen that remains in its natural desiccated state. It is valued for its historical, spiritual, and symbolic significance, not for any physical transformation.

The false Rose of Jericho (Selaginella lepidophylla), native to North America, is the variety that opens dramatically when placed in water and is commonly used in American magical practices.
